The SMRRF 2026 Workshop Programme is designed to give young people, families and curious minds a hands-on introduction to engineering, robotics and 3D printing. Whether it’s assembling a droid, coding or exploring design through play, each workshop reflects our belief that young minds thrive when given the freedom to make, explore and invent.​

These workshops run on Saturday and Sunday and  are at no additional cost.

STEAM Academy

Dream. Create. Inspire.

​Droidbuilder STEAM Academy are bringing the galaxy to Manchester with their hands-on, fan-favourite workshop zone at SMRRF 2026.

 

From racing droids to crafting BugBots, balloon speeders, kids (and grown-up Padawans) will dive into the tech behind the Star Wars universe.

Polymaker will be bringing an interactive materials demonstration to SMRRF 2026, showcasing the performance of advanced 3D printing filaments. Through live testing and hands-on examples, they will explore how different materials behave under stress, heat and impact, revealing both their strengths and weaknesses. 

 

Whether you're a hobbyist, engineer, or professional maker, this session offers a practical insight into material science, helping you understand how to choose the right filament for your projects and push your prints further.

Bring 3D Creations To Life

Blayze Tech are bringing their RoboPad™ platform to SMRRF 2026, a mobile phone-controlled RC robotics system that makes it easy and affordable for anyone to bring 3D-printed creations to life.

​

This hands-on workshop is perfect for makers, students, and families eager to explore robotics without a steep learning curve. Participants will get to design, build and control their own robots in real time, guided by Blayze Tech’s expert team.

​PrintABlok, created by Joe Larson, the 3D Printing Professor, is bringing hands-on creativity to SMRRF 2026 with a LEGO-style open play zone designed for builders of all ages. Led by Doug of DreamsVoid, this workshop invites attendees to dive into a pit of 3D-printed blocks and let their imaginations take over.​​

 

Whether you’re constructing your first build or crafting something intricate, the beauty of PrintABlok is in its simplicity and accessibility. Everyone is encouraged to build and take their creations home, turning playful moments into lasting memories.​
