Kabir

I’ve always loved engineering, but mainstream education didn’t work for me because of my neurodivergence. After being introduced to the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation through Ultra Education, it felt like finding my tribe. With support from SMF, I joined Gaia Learning and received a 3D printer. Now I design and print my own models and for the first time, I feel confident in what I’m good at and excited about my future…

Kabir's Story

Kabir is a talented young engineer with a strong interest in 3D printing. Because of his autism, traditional education did not offer the right environment, and his family spent years searching for the right support. That changed when he was introduced to the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation through Ultra Education, a moment his mother described as “finding their tribe.”

Since joining SMF, Kabir has grown in confidence. Through 12 one-to-one sessions with Gaia Learning and access to his own 3D printer, he has progressed from assembling models to designing and adapting his own creations. He now works independently across multiple projects, demonstrating problem-solving ability, spatial awareness, and an increasingly sophisticated engineering mindset.

Support provided:

  • 12 × 1:1 STEM sessions with Gaia Learning

  • 3D printer to support hands-on design and making

Kabir’s work shows curiosity, creativity, and a clear willingness to experiment and improve. Just as importantly, he has gained confidence, independence, and a stronger sense of belonging within the maker community.

As Kabir shares:
“3D printing has changed how I see my hobbies. I’ve gone from building models to modifying and improving them. It’s helped me develop problem-solving and engineering skills, and it’s made me excited about a future in design or engineering.”

With his growing skills and ambition, Kabir’s future in engineering is full of potential.
